Libertango - TONAK

Libertango

The band was formed in 2009 by very advance students and it's based on Astor Piazzolla compositions and his revolution into a new style termed "new tango", incorporating elements from "jazz" and "classical music".

All the songs are arrangements from the original chart made by the conductor and composer Alberto Carmona. In 2010, Libertango has started to play original contemporanean compositions from Paquito D'Rivera (5 grammy's awards), Dorantes (Indian-Flamenco music) and other composers.

They are the first contemporary student band in north Iceland to achieve artistic success integrating world music, jazz improvisation, latin-american rhythms or using extended techniques. Libertango was awarded in 2010 and 2011 (Nótan)
